Overview: Discuss different types of transportation and find pictures that would fit in these categories: land, air, and water. Then write about your favorite type of transportation in each category.

Preparation:

• Show a few examples of each type. Either have the whole class brainstorm as many types of transportation as they can think of, or divide the class into 3 groups ( land, air, & water). Have each group think of as many types in their given category as they can.
• Using the symbol library, put pictures of types of transportation in the three categories given.
• Write about your favorite type of transportation in each category and tell why you like it.
• As a follow-up activity the children can bring in pictures of each type of transportation and make a class collage.
