Language Arts

Language arts includes many different aspects of our curriculum. It includes spelling, reading writing, and english. It is also important that we connect language arts to other parts of our curriculum. For example, it is important for us to read fiction as well as reading science materials. Don't forget the 15 minutes of reading every night too!

Another important aspect of language arts is English. We practice much of our English through DOL. We have a DOL Quiz every Friday, over the sentences that we look at throughout the week. These quizzes are a big part of the student English grade.

Spelling is also an important part of Language Arts. I believe that it is important for a child to be able to spell words that they may use in everyday language and writing. As a result of this perspective, the students in room 119 build their own spelling list each week, to fit their own needs. As a student works on homework at home, if you notice any misspelled words, you might mention to them the idea of making it a spelling word.
