Unwanted email, or spam, has increasingly become a problem in recent years.
To help reduce spam, many companies use anti-spam programs to filter out potentially
unwanted email. Unfortunately sometimes good email can get blocked.
Recently we have received reports that many people are unable to send email
to NCCS staff. Instead people are getting a bounce-back message saying that
their email was identified as spam by a program called SORBS. SORBS is an anti-spam
solution that "blacklists" email servers that are known for sending
spam.
However, North Canton City Schools does not use SORBS. We are not blocking
these email messages. Instead, here is what is happening:
You send an email message.
That message has to pass through many servers on the Internet to finally
reach us.
Somewhere along that route, your email passes through a "blacklisted"
server.
Then somewhere along that route, your email reaches a server that uses SORBS.
At that point, that server rejects your message and bounces it back to you.
In short, the bounce-back is not your fault or the school's fault. Instead
it is the fault of some "blacklisted" server between you and our school.
Unfortunately this is not something that you or we can fix. Whoever runs the
"blacklisted" server has to fix their spam problem to get removed
from the SORBS database.
In the meantime, we have come up with another option. If you send an email
to an NCCS staff member and that message gets rejected as spam, please use the
email form below to send your message instead. This form allows you to send
a message to any NCCS staff member, and since this form is already on our server,
your message will go directly to the staff member without having to travel through
other servers. This will bypass the SORBS problem.
We apologize for any inconvenience you have encountered with rejected email
messages. We hope this online form will give you one more option for communication
with our staff.
