Overview: Having read Stellaluna, by Janel Cannon, the students will classify selcted animals into two groups, (1) Mammals as in the bat, Stellaluna and (2) birds.

Standards: Literature, Grade Two #3 Use books and other printed materials to obtain knowledge. Read for information.

Activity Steps:
1. Explain and demonstrate the sorting activity to the class, making sure that the children understand why Stellaluna is a mammal and not a bird.
2. Each student will complete the activity by dragging the pictures to the appropriate sorting box.
3. Print each student’s work.

Assessment: Student must correctly match 9 lf 12 (75%) of the pictures in the appropriate sorting box.
