Overview: The children will create a picture graph representing their town’s weather for one week.

Standards: Measurement, sorting, and classifying data

Preparation:
¨ Present and discuss what each possible symbol represents.
¨ Model on the television how to create the graph.
¨ Additional materials and lesson can accompany this lesson. Such as: learning the days of the week, how to use the computer, additional ways to graph information.

Activity/Steps:
¨ View the weather each day in the morning
¨ Discuss how there may be more than one symbol for each day.
¨ At the end of the week compare and contrast the graphs that the children created.

Assessment:
The student must have the correct symbols for six out of the seven days.
