Welcome to AP Biology and Principles of Biomedical Sciences!
My name is Mrs. Ann Sowd. I currently teach AP Biology and Principles of Biomedical Sciences at Hoover High School. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Dayton in 1974. I have worked in clinical laboratories for 12 years. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Kent State University in 1995. I have completed 34 graduate credit hours of continuing education since receiving my masters degree.
This past summer I attended a 2 week summer institute and was trained to teach Project Lead the Way's Principles of Biomedical Sciences.
I am married to Michael. I have three children. Sarah is a junior at Duquesne University majoring in Occupational Therapy. Greg received his Biochemistry degree from Virginia Tech and is a research assistant at The University of Pittsburgh. Matt has his Biomedical Engineering degree from Case Western Reserve University and his masters in Bioengineering from Georgia Tech. He is married and is employed by SAIC outside the DC area. I also have a golden retriever named Molly.
My husband and I love to ride our bicycles. We love the towpath, but also ride other area bike paths. This past summer we rode 70 miles on the Little Miami Scenic Trail and 100 miles on the Great Allegheny Passage. I also like to walk, read, sew, and refinish furniture.
Current information about my classes will be posted and updated on this page.
