Marine Biology is a joint venture offered to Hoover,Jackson,GlenOak, and Lake juniors and seniors who are interested in learning more about marine life.
The course is designed around a weeklong field experience to the Bahamas in the spring. Emphasis is placed on the various ecosystems of subtropical coral reefs as well as classification and visual identification of its inhabitants. Snorkeling and free-diving instruction will be given prior to the field experience.
Classes will be held one evening per week for three hours each session from Dec. to May. A fee of approximately $1800 will be charged to cover costs of transportation, food, and lodging. In addition, students will have to provide their own snorkeling equipment. Due to the limited class size, admissions will be based on applications.
Questions about the course should be directed to Mrs. Covington or Mr. Wood at Hoover HS, or Miss Peters or Mrs. Kalkhoff at Jackson HS.
