Dear Children, Mrs. Mizer and Mrs. Knox,

I love Flat Stanley! He and I have had great fun. All my family and friends love him too.

As a matter of fact I even tried to talk Stanley into staying with me forever. I offered him a prime spot on my refrigerator, with two special football magnets to hold him on with. But Stanley convinced me that he belongs to you and said it was high time I sent him back, though he thoroughly enjoyed himself and would never forget his adventures with me -- very diplomatic indeed. Here are a few fun stories from our time together:

This first picture was taken in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania with Nathan's Uncle Robin and his friend Gene.

What a night! Gene did her impersonation of Miss Piggy for Stanley by painting eyes and a nose on her neck and turning upside down. She pretended to sing a song called "Second Hand Rose". But the music really was playing on a C.D. What a riot! Stanley really got a laugh out of that. Maybe he'll show all of you how it was done!

During Stanley's visit with me I went to visit my doctor for a routine checkup. Of course Stanley wanted to go along. So the Doctor checked Stanley too.

"Stanley", said Doctor Yatsu, "You're in tip-top shape."

Stan and I felt great after our visit at the Docs so we went to the Donut Shop and treated ourselves to a yummy doughnut.

That's when the idea hit me! "Stanley", I said, "How would you like to be a model for your very own Stanley cookie?"

"All you have to do is lay down on a piece of cardboard and let me trace around you with a pencil. Then I will cut out the pattern on the cardboard, roll out cookie dough, and use the pattern for a template. I will cut around the template and make enough cookies for all of the children and Mrs. Mizer back at school."

"Don't forget Mrs. Knox!", said Stanley.

"Let's go!", we shouted.

Once the cookies were baked and ready to pack, Stanley decided to play a game. Where's Stanley? Can anyone find him?

Don't worry--I found him and I'm sending him back to you with the cookies. I will miss Flat Stanley, but won't forget him or your love and thoughtfulness for sending him to me. Thank you all, and especially you Nathan, for my visit with Flat Stanley.

Love,
Nathan's Grandma
