In the beginning Stanley Lampchop was content to simply "hang out" in Room 108. (He WAS, after all, still adjusting to the fact that he was now as flat as a pancake!) He kept quite busy getting to know the boys and girls and learning the classroom rules.....

However, Stanley soon tired of watching his friends leave for places unknown each evening while he had to stay behind in Room 108! He began begging Mrs. Mizer and Mrs. Knox to PLEASE let him go on some adventures of his own. After discussing Stanley's request with the boys and girls in Room 108, it was decided that Stanley would climb into Mrs. Mizer's bag at the end of the day and take a trip to her home! Mrs. Mizer came to school on Monday morning looking quite upset. She and Mr. Mizer could not find Stanley when they got up in the morning. They thought Stanley had gone for a morning jog...but Mrs. Mizer found this e-mail note and photo waiting when she got to school:

Poor Stanley.... He has fallen into the hands of the evil Dr. M. Are you willing to save Stanley from his peril? To save Flat Stanley from the evil doings of Dr. M, send 1/2 dozen assorted Krispy Kreme doughnuts (no jelly filled!) with Mr. Mizer or Stanley will be a victim of Dr. M's sinister Shredder of Death! If you want to see Stanley again, you will heed this warning!

signed,
anonymous kidnapper

Oh my! As the students from Room 108 began arriving from home word of Stanley's dilemma spread rapidly. A message to the anonymous kidnapper was written and sent off immediately!

Anonymous Kidnapper: > > We have 24 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Don't shred Stanley! We love > Stanley and we want him back! We are willing to trade you doughnuts > for Stanley. Please write us back immediately! > >

From,
Room 108

Mr. Mizer volunteered to make "the drop" and set off with his arms full of boxes of doughnuts. We anxiously checked e-mail for word from the anonymous kidnapper throughout the day. What a relief it was to receive the news below!

Very well, Stanley will be freed. As you can see from the attached picture, he is alive and enjoying himself helping Mr. Mizer research AC motor inductive speed controllers over the Internet. Quite fascinating. Stanley really seems to enjoy doing that. See his smiling face!

Dr. M

Whew! What a narrow escape! You would think Stanley would want to stay within the safe walls of Room 108 in Orchard Hill Elementary School after and adventure like that wouldn't you??? Not our friend Stanley ... he is eager to keep seeing more of the world while he is still flat enough to be mailed in an envelope. SO...the teachers and students are Orchard Hill School are busy sending off letters (with our flat friend folded up inside!) around the country. Stay tuned for Stanley's next adventure!
