Mrs. Knox told her friend, Mrs. Hongell, at Pocantico Hills School in Sleepy Hollow, New York about Stanley's adventures, and the boys and girls at Mrs. Hongell's School (she is the computer teacher for all of the students there) invited Stanley to come visit them! You can visit Pocantico Hills School's website by clicking here. Here's a report from Mrs Hongell on some of Stanley's adventures in Sleepy Hollow: |
| Stanley had a wonderful time here at Pocantico Hills School. He arrived just in time for our Superintendent's Conference Day. Since we were going to tour the home of John D. Rockefeller, Sr., Stanley needed some special clothes. We got him a great looking leather jacket and matching pants. It's a good thing he already had a tie! |

The morning began here at Pocantico Hills School in Sleepy Hollow, NY with a movies about how to help students. Then the Superintendent took all the staff on a tour of the school district so we could see where our children live. We got to ride on a school bus for 2 hours. We even saw some of the children out playing and got to wave to them. They thought it was really wierd to see teachers on a school bus

Then
it was back to school for a quick lunch before we all headed off to
Kykuit. Kykuit was the home of of John D. Rockefeller, Sr. He lived
from 1839 to 1937. He moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1853. He came back
to New York in 1883 and bought property in Pocantico in 1893. He gave
the community the land for our school in 1895. He founded the University
of Chicago, founded Standard Oil and was the richest man alive.
|
He
was our country's first millionaire. His home, Kykuit, is just down the street
from our school. Last year our second graders made a web site all about JDR
(as he was known). You can see it here: http://www2.lhric.org/pocantico/rockefeller/jdr.htm
| Stanley had a great time on the tour. First we stopped at the gift shop and then we got to tour Kykuit. |

We were not allowed to take pictures inside the house but I did get lots of pictures of Stanley outside. |
| The view of the Hudson River from the back porch of Kykuit is amazing! | ![]() |
The
view of the Hudson River from the back porch of Kykuit is amazing! Stanley
will be coming back to you soon (along with some materials we picked up at
Kykuit) so you can see his great suit! Thanks for letting Flat Stanley spend
some time with us here at Pocantico Hills School, in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
