Letter to Friends from Flat Stanley

Dear Soon-to-be-Friend of Flat Stanley,

Mrs. Mizer's Second Grade class at Orchard Hill Elementary School in North Canton, Ohio has read and enjoyed the book "Flat Stanley" by Jeff Brown. Stanley Lambchop was a typical boy, who had a large bulletin board mounted on the wall over his bed. One night, while he was sleeping, the bulletin board fell on him and flattened him to a one-half inch thickness. He was surprised when he woke up to find himself flat. Stanley discovered he could be folded up and mailed in an envelope to different places. Stanley visited his friend in California and had a great time. Stanley now wishes to come and visit you!

We have enclosed Flat Stanley and hope you enjoy his visit. Please show Stanley around your town, home and/or office and send him back to us with a letter or journal about his visit. Pictures or postcards showing what Stanley did with you would be great. You may mail postcards back to school while you have Stanley so we know how he is doing. We would be delighted if you would "dress" Stanley in a manner that shows what he did while he was visiting you. (For example, if Stanley visits Disney World, he may return with Mickey Mouse ears!)

Upon Stanley's return to Orchard Hill Elementary, we will mount Stanley and his story and pictures in our hallway. We plan to mark the states Stanley has visited on our wall map. We hope you enjoy this project. Please try to return Stanley to his school in a timely manner. We are looking forward to your story and Flat Stanley's return.
