Second Grade Classes
San Jose Episcopal Day School

At San Jose Episcopal Day School, each class comes to the computer lab for technology lessons. For two of these sessions, our second grade classes focused on the theme of spring. During a group discussion of "What is spring?", many ideas were brought to the table. One of our school festivals is Spring Fling, a spring carnival. Many of the students were very excited about the coming event. Being a parish day school, we also just celebrated Easter. There was also much discussion about that holiday. Primarily though, the students focused on what was happening in nature during spring.

After our discussions, the students went to individual computers and began a composition using KidPix. This program allowed them to write as well as illustrate what spring means to them. The directive was to write a 5 sentence paragraph or poem about spring and illustrate it using the drawing tools and a few stamps. The results were unedited and put into a slide show. The slide shows of their work are available on our website. Click here to view them!
