NCCS Parent Technology Meetings
2007-2008 School Year

Technology is an ever-growing part of our lives at school and at home. To help you navigate these challenges and opportunities, North Canton City Schools will be offering four “Parent Technology Meetings” this school year.
Each meeting will be held in Hoover Hall at the high school and will run from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Everyone is invited to attend, and there is no need to sign up.

#1 – Monday, September 17, 2007 “Pinnacle, the PIV, and Grading Guidelines” – In this session we will explain how to use the Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) to check on student assignments, grades, and attendance. We will also cover how to use the PIV to sign up for email notifications for grade changes and progress. Finally we will cover the basics of the North Canton grading system including Academic Practice and Academic Achievement. |

#2 – Tuesday, October 22, 2007 “Infohio: A FREE library in your computer” – Infohio is a wonderful online resource available for free to all Ohio students and their families. Through Infohio you can read over 6,000 popular magazines (in full text), access the full Encyclopedia Britannica, and much more. This is a valuable resource for students of all ages and their families, giving you the power of an entire library right in your home computer. |

#3 – Monday, November 19, 2007 “Internet Safety: What every parent (and child) needs to know” – The Internet can be a great resource, but it can also be dangerous. As a parent you may not be able to keep up with everything your children are doing online. In this session you will learn all about blogs (like MySpace, Xanga, and such), Internet predators, and practical ways to know what your children are doing and keep them safe. |
